Professional Recognition and Exemptions
We are one of only four UK members recognised by CIUTI, the International Permanent Conference of University Institutes of Translators and Interpreters. We are also a member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI), the UK-based professional association of interpreters and translators.
Opportunities Abroad
All our degree programmes include a compulsory third year abroad mainly at exchange partner institutions.
Skills Gained
- High level of linguistic competence (oral and written) in English and your chosen languages.
- Knowledge of national, European, and international societies, institutions and cultures.
- Transferable skills such as writing for a specific purpose, research, planning and presentation skills as well as time management.
Teaching and Assessment
Teaching facilities include three state-of-the-art interpreting laboratories equipped for simultaneous interpreting, two further digital language laboratories, audiovisual self-study facilities and a Virtual Learning Environment accessible on or off-campus. Our oral and interpreting classes are small and interactive. Assessment is by course work and end of course or year exams.
