Economics

Introduction

Economics is the study of how individuals, firms and the government make choices, and how these choices determine the way in which resources are distributed - or shared out - in a society. Economics is about much more than money. It throws light on issues as diverse as the environment, unemployment, inflation, poverty, globalisation and trade.

We make economic decisions every day of our lives, and the study of economics offers a way of thinking about the world that will enable us to understand and improve decision making, not only for ourselves, but for firms, government and society as a whole. With this in mind, we have designed our undergraduate degree courses to equip students with a range of quantitative, analytical and communication skills. These skills are highly valued by a wide range of employers, including those in business, banking and finance, and the civil service.
